US Occupational Safety and Health Act of 1970
Sections 8 to 13: Inspections, records, citations, enforcement and employee rights – US Occupational Safety and Health Act of 1970

US Occupational Safety and Health Act of 1970 8c1: Keep the records the Secretary prescribes and inform employees of their protections by posting

What does 8c1 require?

Every employer must make, keep and preserve the records about its activities under the Act that the Secretary (with the HHS Secretary) prescribes by regulation, and produce them on request, for enforcement or to build knowledge of why workplace accidents and illnesses happen and how to prevent them; the regulations may require periodic employer inspections. The Secretary must also require employers, by posting notices or other means, to keep staff aware of their rights and duties under the Act and the applicable standards (the OSHA 'Job Safety and Health: It's the Law' poster under 29 CFR 1903.2).
