Uganda Occupational Safety and Health Act 2006
Parts IX to XI: General safety, fire preparedness, machinery, plant and equipment (sections 56 to 82) – Uganda Occupational Safety and Health Act 2006

Uganda Occupational Safety and Health Act 2006 64-68: Driving belts, unfenced machinery, encasing and self-acting machines: striking gear to move belts between fast and loose pulleys without creep-back, the limited allowance for examination and lubrication of moving parts by trained and instructed persons with a fixed or footed ladder, set-screws, bolts and keys on revolving parts sunk or guarded and gearing encased on power-driven machines (with an offence for selling or hiring non-compliant machines), and traversing parts of self-acting machines kept at least five centimetres from fixed structures with workers kept out of the traverse space

What does 64-68 require?

Belts are moved between fast and loose pulleys only with suitable striking gear or another efficient mechanical appliance, provided and maintained for the purpose and built and placed so the belt cannot creep back onto the fast pulley. In judging whether an unfenced part is safe, no account is taken of a person examining, lubricating or adjusting machinery in motion where that is immediately necessary, or of continuous processes the Commissioner certifies, but only where the person is sufficiently trained, acquainted with the dangers, instructed on emergency steps and watched by someone immediately available, and any ladder used is securely fixed, lashed or footed. On each power-driven machine, any set-screw, bolt or key found on a revolving shaft, spindle, wheel or pinion is sunk, encased or effectively guarded and all spur, toothed or friction gearing not needing frequent adjustment in motion is completely encased unless safe by position; selling or hiring a non-compliant machine for use in a workplace is an offence. No traversing part of a self-acting machine or material it carries runs within five centimetres of a fixed structure across a space people may pass through, and instructions keep workers out of the gap between a self-acting spinning mule's traversing part and the fixed parts it moves toward except while the machine is stopped and its traversing part rests on the outward run.
