External windows, vents, doors and other openings seal when closed and are proofed against dust, vermin and pests, and external personnel doors are insect-proofed with self-closers and seals (11.1.5.1). External doors in food handling areas, including dock doors for product, people or trucks, keep pests out using one or more of a self-closer, an effective air curtain, a pest-proof screen, a pest-proof annex or adequate sealing around trucks (11.1.5.2). Electric insect killers, pheromone and other traps and baits pose no risk of contaminating product, packaging, containers or equipment, and poison rodent bait is not used inside ingredient or product storage or processing areas where materials are handled or exposed (11.1.5.3).
