Lighting in processing, handling and inspection areas is intense enough for staff to work effectively and satisfies industry standards or local regulations (11.1.3.1). Fixtures where product is exposed, and in processing, inspection, ingredient and packaging storage areas, are shatterproof or have shatterproof covers and are recessed or flush-mounted; where recessing is impossible they are protected from breakage, cleanable and in the cleaning programme (11.1.3.2). Fixtures in warehouses and areas where product is covered are designed to prevent breakage and contamination (11.1.3.3).
