Members and firms must comply with local law and, where law and the client's interests conflict, follow the law and tell the client unless prohibited; must not mislead in marketing and must meet marketing law; and must act diligently throughout, including: accurate, unbiased advice suited to the client; meeting agreed timescales or telling the client when they cannot; not accepting work beyond their expertise without support and informed consent; not appointing a subagent unless the client agrees; choosing contractors carefully and confirming their insurance and qualifications; and following client instructions or explaining, where lawful, why they cannot, reporting suspected illegality where required or permitted.
