Rent, payment and records – Queensland Residential Tenancies and Rooming Accommodation Act 2008

Queensland Residential Tenancies and Rooming Accommodation Act 2008 s91: s 91 Rent increase by written notice at least two months ahead with the prescribed details

To increase the rent under a periodic agreement, or during a fixed term where the agreement provides for an increase and states the amount or how it is worked out, the lessor gives the tenant written notice stating the new rent, the day it starts and (unless an exempt lessor) the day the rent was last increased for the premises. The start day is no earlier than two months after the notice and no earlier than the end of the 12-month minimum period. An increase is not payable if it does not comply, or if it relates to bringing the premises up to the minimum housing standards or to keeping a pet or working dog.
