OSHA Safety and Health Regulations for Construction (29 CFR Part 1926) 1926.853: 1926.853 Removal of materials through floor openings

Openings cut in a floor to dispose of materials may not exceed 25 percent of the total floor area in aggregate unless the removed flooring's lateral supports stay in place. Floors weakened or made unsafe by demolition must be shored so they can carry the load that demolition imposes on them.
