The entry employer is responsible for ensuring that every authorized entrant meets these duties. Entrants must know and understand the hazards they may face during entry, including how exposure occurs, its signs or symptoms and its consequences. They must use the equipment provided under 1926.1204(d) properly. They must keep in contact with the attendant as needed so the attendant can judge their status and warn them to evacuate under 1926.1209(f). They must alert the attendant whenever they notice any warning sign or exposure symptom indicating danger, or detect a prohibited condition. They must get out of the permit space as fast as possible when the attendant or entry supervisor orders evacuation, when warning signs or exposure symptoms appear, when they detect a prohibited condition, or when an evacuation alarm activates. Compliance is shown through the employer's training, supervision and observed entrant behaviour rather than through a separate record; the section itself sets no documentation requirement, although training under 1926.1207 must be recorded.
