Part I: General – NFPA 70 National Electrical Code 2023 Article 700 Emergency Systems

NFPA 70 National Electrical Code 2023 Article 700 Emergency Systems 700.5(B)-(D): 700.5(B) to (D) Bypass isolation, ATS construction and redundant transfer equipment

Bypass and isolation of transfer equipment is permitted provided unintended paralleling is prevented. ATSs are electrically operated and mechanically held. Where emergency loads hang on a single feeder, the system needs a second transfer path, either duplicate equipment or a switch with bypass and isolation, so maintenance under 700.3(C) can be done without losing power; if that redundant means is manual, a qualified person must actively supervise it while the automatic equipment is out. Exceptions: processes that can be safely stopped, an unoccupied building with fire protection not needing the alternate source, other temporary means, or an implemented written emergency plan given to the AHJ (2026: 700.6(B) and (C)).

What else in your programme already covers this

This control maps to 1 controls across 1 other frameworks. If you already hold one of them, the evidence you collected for it is the starting point here rather than new work.

Every mapping shown was judged rather than inferred from wording similarity, and the ones that failed review are published too. See the coverage reports and what was rejected.
