Chapter 4: Classification of SEPSS – NFPA 111-2025 Standard on Stored Electrical Energy Emergency and Standby Power Systems

NFPA 111-2025 Standard on Stored Electrical Energy Emergency and Standby Power Systems 4.1-4.3: 4.1 to 4.3 Classification by type and class

Every SEPSS is classified. Type is the longest gap in acceptable power the switched load may see (Table 4.2.2: Type O no break with the UPS carrying load, Type U a UPS with utility preferred, Type A a quarter cycle, Type B one cycle, Type 10 ten seconds, Type M manual). Class is the minimum time at rated load without recharge (Table 4.3: 2, 5, 15 or 90 minutes, or Class X as needed), and for batteries the table values assume end-of-life capacity.

What else in your programme already covers this

This control maps to 2 controls across 2 other frameworks. If you already hold one of them, the evidence you collected for it is the starting point here rather than new work.

  • 4.1 4.1 EPSS supply by class and type
  • 11.10-11.12 UPS battery autonomy agreed with clinical stakeholders

Every mapping shown was judged rather than inferred from wording similarity, and the ones that failed review are published too. See the coverage reports and what was rejected.
