Chapter 4: Classification of SEPSS – NFPA 111-2025 Standard on Stored Electrical Energy Emergency and Standby Power Systems

NFPA 111-2025 Standard on Stored Electrical Energy Emergency and Standby Power Systems 4.4-4.5: 4.4 and 4.5 Category and Level

Category A covers devices charged only from the normal supply in normal operation and Category B everything else in scope. Level 1 systems are installed where equipment failure could cost life or cause serious injury (corresponding to NEC Article 700) and Level 2 where failure is less critical (Article 701); all equipment is permanently installed and must deliver power of a quality that keeps the load working, within the type time and for the class duration; optional standby uses are outside the document.
