Traceability is mandatory for any item or component whose failure could cost a piece of equipment, degrade its performance or put life at risk; ISO 9001 leaves traceability to where it is a requirement, AQAP-2110 makes it a requirement for these items. SRD.1: build records of components and batch-controlled materials (seals, welding consumables) support recall and deter counterfeits. SRD.2: AS9100D 8.5.2 already requires traceability; the NATO trigger is failure consequence. Base clause: ISO 9001:2015 8.5.2 (identification and traceability).
