ITIL 4 4.3.4: Collaborate and promote visibility

What does 4.3.4 require?

Bringing in suitable people in suitable roles creates buy-in, keeps work relevant and supports lasting success. Favour inclusion over working in silos; identify and manage every stakeholder group (customers above all, then developers with operations, suppliers, relationship managers with consumers, customers with one another, suppliers with one another); work out how best to engage each; make work and its outcomes visible; avoid hidden agendas; and share as much information as possible. When workload cannot be seen, work seems unimportant, so understand work in progress, bottlenecks, spare capacity and waste, and have leaders communicate improvement work. Working together is not the same as everyone agreeing; speak to each audience in terms it will take in; and remember that decisions depend on data that can be seen.
