ISO/IEC/IEEE 12207:2017 6.4.11: Validation process: provide objective evidence that the system in use meets stakeholder requirements and its intended use

What does 6.4.11 require?

The project defines validation criteria for the stakeholder requirements, confirms that the services stakeholders require are available, identifies the validation constraints that influence requirements, architecture or design, validates the system or element, makes the enabling systems available, identifies validation results and anomalies, provides objective evidence that the realised system satisfies stakeholder needs and establishes traceability of the validated elements; for software this covers software validation and acceptance testing, with stakeholders ratifying the result. Activities: prepare for validation, perform validation, manage the results.
