From production until distribution the provider ensures items are suitably identified and stored so that contamination, damage and deterioration are prevented, has procedures for moving items into and out of storage, and assesses the condition of stored items at specified intervals or before distribution to detect deterioration. Where potentially hazardous items are used, facilities for safe handling, decontamination and disposal are available.
