ISO/IEC 17043:2023
Clause 7.1 to 7.3: Scheme objectives, design and PT items – ISO/IEC 17043:2023

ISO/IEC 17043:2023 7.2.3: Determine assigned values with documented procedure, traceability, uncertainty and a disclosure policy

What does 7.2.3 require?

The provider documents how the assigned value of each scheme property or characteristic, taking into account where applicable the metrological traceability and uncertainty needed to show the scheme is fit for purpose (ISO 13528 gives statistical methods). Calibration schemes have assigned values with metrological traceability; for other schemes the relevance, need and feasibility of traceability and the associated uncertainty are determined from the scheme's purpose, the chain of traceability depending on the item, the property, and whether traceable calibrations and reference materials exist. When a consensus value is the assigned value the provider estimates its uncertainty as described in the plan. A policy on disclosure of assigned values ensures that no participant can gain advantage from early disclosure.
