ISO 37101:2016 4.6.9: Living and working environment

What does 4.6.9 require?

Addressing the living and working environment means helping everyone gain fair and equal access to good living and working conditions that meet what interested parties need and expect. Under 4.6.1 every strategy, programme, project, plan and service the organization carries out must take this issue into account and contribute to the six purposes of sustainability; the standard's table for this issue offers example questions for the cross-analysis, one per purpose: what steps improve quality of life to increase attractiveness; how far programmes, projects and activities are regulated to limit environmental impact and how greenhouse gas emissions are reduced; how resilience, including adaptation to climate change, is balanced with creativity and quality of life; how far non-renewable resources are used sustainably; how equitable access to decent housing is ensured while limiting social segregation; and how far the well-being benefits of better living and working conditions are evaluated.
