ISO 26262:2018 - Functional Safety for Road Vehicles 11:5.2: 5.2 Analogue/mixed signal components

What does 11:5.2 require?

An element whose signals are not limited to digital states is analogue (every interface to the physical world: sensors, actuator outputs, power supplies); mixed signal components combine at least one analogue and one digital element, and since the two need different design, layout, verification and test methods the blocks should be clearly divided, with a mixed signal component split into its analogue and digital elements for analysis, the boundary of an analogue element set by its function, fault models and failure modes, and elements with freedom from interference or independence requirements separated by part or subpart boundaries, further divided by signal flow (a control loop made of a feedback ADC, a digital regulator and an output driver) and connectivity; the guidance gives the failure modes and fault models of analogue and mixed signal elements, notes on safety analysis, examples of safety mechanisms, the avoiding systematic faults in the development process and an example of safety documentation.

Every mapping shown was judged rather than inferred from wording similarity, and the ones that failed review are published too. See the coverage reports and what was rejected.
