A records system combines elements so identified records requirements are met in the business environment. It applies records controls, carries out creation, capture and management processes and maintains logical relationships between content and metadata. Design and implementation account for business context and requirements, and aim at the characteristics in 5.3.2, interoperability, ease of use and reuse, readiness for technological and business change and readiness for business interruption. Systems may be built for records or be adapted from other business systems.
