Clause 6: Resource management in projects – ISO 10006:2017

ISO 10006:2017 6.1.2: Resource planning

What does 6.1.2 require?

The resources the project needs should be identified. Resource plans should say which resources are needed and when, in line with the schedule, how and from where they will be obtained and allocated and, where relevant, how they will be disposed of when tasks finish and when the project ends, and should be usable for resource control. Inputs used in planning resources should be checked for validity, and organizations that supply resources should be evaluated for their stability, capability and performance. Constraints and risks affecting resources should be taken into account, for example availability, safety, cultural factors, international agreements, labour agreements, government regulation, funding and the project's environmental impact. Resource plans with their estimates, allocations, constraints and assumptions should be documented and placed in the project management plan.
