IEC 61508:2010 - Functional Safety of E/E/PE Safety-related Systems
Part 2, Clause 7: E/E/PE lifecycle (hardware) – IEC 61508:2010 - Functional Safety of E/E/PE Safety-related Systems

IEC 61508:2010 - Functional Safety of E/E/PE Safety-related Systems 2-7.1.3: Part 2, 7.1.3 E/E/PE lifecycle: requirements

Conformance is claimed against the E/E/PE lifecycle of Figure 2, with the V-model ASIC development lifecycle of Figure 3 for ASIC design; any other system or ASIC lifecycle must be specified within functional safety management and still meet every objective and requirement of Part 2. Functional safety management runs alongside; each phase is broken into elementary activities with scope, inputs and outputs (Table 1); phase outputs are documented unless justified; and outputs meet each phase's objectives and requirements (7.2 to 7.9).
