An accessible toilet's emergency call bell must have its push button placed where every user can reach it conveniently, and when pressed must raise an audible or visible alarm that is readily noticed so help comes, sounding outside the toilet or as a buzzer in the caretaker's office. The weatherproof button is fixed beneath the vertical grab rail inside the cubicle next to the water closet, 600 mm to 650 mm above the finished floor, with an Emergency Call notice in English, Chinese and Braille beside it. The Best Practice Section covers pull cords reachable from the floor and two-way communication.
