Hersey & Blanchard Situational Leadership Model S4: Delegating or Entrusting: low relationship, low task

What does S4 require?

For readiness level 4 (able and willing, or able and confident, with enough practice to work without direction) the leader turns over responsibility for decisions and implementation: no direction on what, where, when or how, and below-average support because the follower is already confident, committed and motivated. Other descriptors are observing and monitoring; some relationship behaviour is still needed and the leader keeps a finger on the pulse while the follower takes responsibility. In SLII the Delegating leader gives the individual the authority and the resources to act on their own. Less supportive behaviour is not less trust: with a highly ready person it takes less of it to show the trust that exists.
