Hersey & Blanchard Situational Leadership Model
Performance readiness and development levels (R1 to R4, D1 to D4) – Hersey & Blanchard Situational Leadership Model

Hersey & Blanchard Situational Leadership Model R4: Able and willing or confident (SLII D4 Self-Reliant Achiever: high competence, high commitment)

What does R4 require?

Situational Leadership R4: the follower can do the task and is committed to it (able and willing) or confident about doing it (able and confident); the matched style is S4 Delegating. SLII D4, the self-reliant achiever: consistently competent and justifiably confident, trusts their own ability to work independently, may be seen as the expert and loaded with more work than is reasonable; matched with S4 Delegating. Readiness at R4 on one task does not carry to another: the authors' salesperson can be left alone on securing sales and still need close supervision on the paperwork that closes them.
