Hersey & Blanchard Situational Leadership Model
Performance readiness and development levels (R1 to R4, D1 to D4) – Hersey & Blanchard Situational Leadership Model

Hersey & Blanchard Situational Leadership Model R3: Able but unwilling or insecure (SLII D3 Capable but Cautious Performer: moderate to high competence, variable commitment)

What does R3 require?

Situational Leadership R3: the follower has the ability but is not willing to use it (able but unwilling, often a sign of slipping) or is insecure or apprehensive about doing it alone (able but insecure, typical of the first solo attempts); the matched style is S3 Participating. SLII D3, the capable but cautious performer: generally self-directed and making productive contributions, but at times hesitant, self-critical or bored with the task and wanting to test ideas with others; matched with S3 Supporting. Both lineages agree on this level.
