No potential ignition source may arise, whether sparks, open flame, arcing, hot surfaces, acoustic energy, optical or electromagnetic radiation, or any other. Dangerous electrostatic discharges must be prevented by suitable measures; stray electric and leakage currents in conductive parts that could cause dangerous corrosion, hot surfaces or igniting sparks must be prevented; overheating from friction or impacts, for example between rotating parts or from foreign bodies, must as far as possible be designed out; and pressure compensation in the product must not create shock waves or compressions capable of ignition, using integrated measuring, control and regulating devices where needed.
