While a product is under their responsibility, importers must keep storage and transport conditions from jeopardising its compliance with Annex II. Where risks warrant it, they must sample-test products on the market, investigate, keep a register of complaints, non-conforming products and recalls where needed, and inform distributors. An importer that considers or has reason to believe a product it placed does not conform must at once take corrective action, withdraw or recall it, and where it presents a risk immediately inform the competent authorities with details.
