The RAMS management process considers how the existing and the renewed systems might affect each other, including what is assumed about the safety performance of the existing systems, and the same applies where a mixed-phase stage has existing and renewed systems operating together; the hazards or RAM equivalents arising from the change and its interfaces are identified and evaluated in the risk assessment, only the affected phases are reconsidered, and where the change adds no risk the argument is documented.
