Connecticut Rules of Professional Conduct (Connecticut Practice Book) 7.3-e-f: Written and recorded solicitations labelled Advertising Material in red, sent by regular mail, with no claim of bar approval

What does 7.3-e-f require?

Written solicitations, and solicitations by audio, video or other electronic means, sent to someone the lawyer knows needs legal help in a specific matter must be marked Advertising Material in red ink, prominently, on the first page and the lower left of the envelope or container, on the address panel of a self-mailer, and at the start and finish of any recording or electronic message; the mark is not required where the recipient asked for the communication or falls within the live-contact exceptions. The solicitation may not suggest any approval from the Connecticut bar and may be sent only by ordinary United States mail, never by registered or other restricted delivery. A lawyer may take part in a prepaid or group legal service plan run by an organisation the lawyer neither owns nor directs that uses live contact to sign up people who are not known to need help with a particular matter the plan covers.
