Codex General Principles of Food Hygiene (CXC 1-1969, Rev. 2022) 14.1: 14.1 Lot identification and traceability

Each food container carries a permanent mark identifying who produced it and its lot, which supports recall and stock rotation, in line with Codex CXS 1-1985 on labelling of pre-packaged foods. A traceability or product tracing system is designed and implemented under the Codex traceability principles (CXG 60-2006) so products can be recalled where necessary.
