Rules on personal hygiene must be written down and made known to all personnel. As a minimum they forbid watches and wearable devices; forbid jewellery other than a single plain wedding ring or band or medical alert jewellery; forbid rings and studs in any exposed part of the body; require fingernails to be short, clean and unvarnished; forbid false nails and nail art; and forbid excessive perfume or aftershave. Compliance must be checked routinely.
