Bulk transfer of dangerous goods (Part 10) – Australian Dangerous Goods Code Edition 7.8 (Consignor and Transport Duties)

Australian Dangerous Goods Code Edition 7.8 (Consignor and Transport Duties) 10.2.2.3-10.2.2.5: Electrical bonding, bottom-contact loading spears and no heaters during transfer

What does 10.2.2.3-10.2.2.5 require?

Before LP gas is transferred the supplying and receiving receptacles are electrically bonded under AS/NZS 1596; for other Division 2.1 goods, bonding is in place before transfer begins and stays until hoses are uncoupled and closures shut, unless the receiving receptacle is an underground tank; Class 3 transfers are bonded under AS 1940. A tank top-filled with Class 3 goods other than via an AS 1692 tight-fill connection and fill pipe must have the loading spear touching the tank bottom throughout. A tank vehicle with a cargo heater does not operate the heater during a transfer except as permitted for bitumen operations under 13.1.3.5.
