Part 2-2: fraud and corruption control, debt recovery and officials' disclosure of material personal interests (sections 10 to 16DA) – Australia Public Governance, Performance and Accountability Rule 2014 (PGPA Rule)

Australia Public Governance, Performance and Accountability Rule 2014 (PGPA Rule) 11: Debt recovery by non-corporate entities: pursue recovery of every debt the accountable authority is responsible for unless recovery is uneconomical, the debt is not legally recoverable, or it has been written off under an Act

What does 11 require?

In a non-corporate Commonwealth entity, the accountable authority has to chase each debt owed to the Commonwealth for which it is responsible. The only grounds for not pursuing recovery are a judgement by the accountable authority that recovery is not economical, satisfaction that the debt cannot be recovered at law, or a write-off authorised by legislation; each ground calls for a recorded decision.
