A body or provider must notify the individual of its decision on a correction request within 5 business days; where it corrects, the notice must include all relevant credit reporting or credit eligibility information held so the individual can check the correction, explain the right to free access from a body after a correction decision and how to exercise it, and where the entity will rely on the notification deeming rule, say who it will notify and ask whether the individual wants any other provider or recipient told. Updating identification information does not require notifying previous recipients unless the individual asks. Where a correction triggers a Part IIIA duty to notify other entities, the duty is met (unless impracticable or illegal) by notifying within 7 business days all bodies that received the uncorrected information, all providers and affected information recipients that received it in the previous 3 months, and any other recipient the individual nominates, including revised CRB or CP derived information and the identifiers needed to match the individual and the credit where the earlier derived information is now wrong.
