Australia Privacy (Credit Reporting) Code 2025
Schedule 2 Division 6: Access to, and correction of, credit information – Australia Privacy (Credit Reporting) Code 2025

Australia Privacy (Credit Reporting) Code 2025 19(4)-(7): Give free access after a refusal within 90 days or a correction decision and once every 3 months, provide all credit information, derived information and the credit rating clearly with explanations, and make the free service as findable as any fee-based one

A body must not charge for access where the individual shows that a provider refused a consumer credit application within the previous 90 days, even through an access seeker and regardless of free access in the past 3 months. Free access required by the Act, the Regulations or the Code must include all credit information in the disclosure databases, all current CRB derived information available and the individual's credit rating, presented clearly and accessibly with reasonable explanations and summaries of the impact on credit worthiness, with direct marketing only on an opt-in consent (no pre-ticked box) and a physical copy if requested. Information about any fee-based service must prominently state the rights to free access after a refusal, after a correction decision, and once every 3 months, the free service must be as available and as easy to find and use as the paid one, and physical copies must be provided on request through the paid service too.
