Where a body derives more than one rating or score, the rating given under section 20R is the one calculated for providers from the broadest range of information (the most accurate and current where several), and any differently calculated rating it charges for must be offered free once every 3 months. When referring access seekers to a third party score service more frequent than quarterly the body must prominently state the free section 20R right and keep the free service as findable. If insufficient information prevents a rating the body must explain that and what information it needs. A rating must be given with an explanation of the nature of a credit score and how the rating relates to it, a scale divided into at least five bands with score ranges and credit worthiness descriptors, the band the individual sits in, and an explanation statement covering the types of credit information held and their general impact, the three to five types most important for people in that band and why, for all but the top band what people in the band commonly do to improve, and how providers may and may not use ratings in assessment and management including alongside responsible lending; the assumptions behind the statement must be reviewed at least every 12 months or on a significant calculation change.
