An employee required to work overtime of 2 hours or more after their usual finishing time must be allowed a paid 20-minute rest immediately after the usual finishing time, and then a further paid 30-minute rest after every 4 continuous hours. If the employee stays on without taking the 20-minute rest and works 2 hours or more, they are treated as having worked 20 minutes more and paid for it. Usual finishing time includes time worked for RDO accrual. This does not apply to employees receiving the hot or cold work rests, and a 16.2 agreement may vary the breaks.
