Requiring an employee to keep working through their normal meal break triggers a penalty that runs until the break is allowed: plumbing and mechanical services employees get double time (200%) on the ordinary hourly rate, sprinkler fitters 150%. If the break is shortened by agreement, the minutes cut from it are paid and count as ordinary hours.
