When an employee must travel from their usual workplace or home to a distant job, all travel expenses must be reimbursed. The employer chooses the mode of travel, but it must be at least equivalent to economy class comfort. Travel time is paid at ordinary time rates up to 8 hours a day; for sprinkler fitters required to travel on a Sunday or public holiday, the rate is 150% of the ordinary hourly rate. If the employee is not housed on the site, their accommodation becomes the centre for fares and travel time under 21.9(b) to (d).
