Apprentices other than adult apprentices are paid a percentage of the aggregate of the Tradesperson Level 1 weekly minimum and, for plumbing apprentices, the tool allowance and plumbing trade allowance or, for sprinkler pipe-fitting apprentices, the two 21.3(f) allowances, the sprinkler fitters adjustment and the tool allowance. Which percentage table applies depends on whether the apprentice started before 1 January 2014 (18.2(b)) or on or after that date (18.2(c)), and for the later group whether they have completed year 12. Trainee apprentices receive their own percentage of the tradesperson weekly minimum plus the relevant share of the plumbing trade allowance, the full tool allowance, the industry allowance and, where applicable, fares and standard travelling time. The percentages to apply are those in the tables in clause 18.2 of the current award (consolidated to 16 September 2026, read 30 September 2026).
