All on-site employees building or renovating a multistorey building (one that, when complete, has 5 or more storey levels) must be paid the hourly multistorey allowance for the scale that applies, the amount in clause 21.5(d)(iii) of the current award (consolidated to 16 September 2026, read 30 September 2026). The scales step up at the 16th, 31st, 46th and 61st floor levels, and each higher scale starts for everyone once any of the structural or reinforcing steel, the boxing or the walls rises above the first floor level of that scale; the rate reached at the top continues until the building is complete. Renovation qualifies where structural alterations cover more than 2 storey levels and some work is above the 4th floor. Storey levels include basements and mezzanines but not half floors; a rooftop plant room counts if it covers 25% of the roof or 100 square metres, whichever is smaller; structures without regular storeys over 15 metres may fall under this or the towers allowance by agreement. Service core rules apply above 15 metres over the main structure.
