An employee at worker Level 2, or tradesperson Level 1 or above, in plumbing and mechanical services must be paid the weekly plumbing trade allowance, the amount in clause 21.3(b) of the current award (consolidated to 16 September 2026, read 30 September 2026), whether or not their work involves the listed conditions. The allowance is a rounded-up substitute for separate payments for insulation handling, explosive powered tools, toxic substances and working near them, fumes, asbestos material work or proximity, confined spaces, swing scaffolds, chokages, ladder work, wet work and dirty or offensive work.
