A distant-job employee who must live away from the site (unless adjacent and given transport) must be paid the 21.9(b) fares allowance. An employee who works as required on the working days before and after a weekend and tells the employer by Tuesday of that week that they intend to go home for the weekend must be paid the weekend return amount in clause 21.10(d)(iv) of the current award (consolidated to 16 September 2026, read 30 September 2026) for each occasion, unless they are receiving the living away allowance instead of board and lodging or a camping allowance. Going home for a weekend without missing ordinary hours does not reduce the 21.10(c) allowance.
