For the return trip the employee is paid the same travel time, fare and meals as on the forward journey, plus the amount in clause 21.10(d)(ii) of the current award (consolidated to 16 September 2026, read 30 September 2026) to cover carrying the employee and their tools home from the main public transport terminal. The return payments are not due if the employee leaves within 2 months of starting on the job, is sacked for incompetence in the first working week on the job, or is dismissed because of misconduct. Travel time is measured from the rail, bus or air terminal (central or regional) closest to the employee's home to the work locality.
