The employer may require work on a scheduled RDO only when needed so that other employees can be productively employed, to do maintenance outside normal hours, because of unforeseen delays on a project or a section of it, or for other unforeseen or emergency reasons on a project. The employee then receives the weekend or public holiday penalty rates and provisions under clause 23, in addition to keeping the RDO and other accruals.
