Section 2: When to consult with workers – Australia Model Code of Practice: Work Health and Safety Consultation, Cooperation and Coordination

Australia Model Code of Practice: Work Health and Safety Consultation, Cooperation and Coordination 2.3: 2.3 Consult before changes that may affect health and safety

The PCBU must consult workers when proposing changes that may affect their health and safety, such as changes to work systems including shift rosters, work procedures or the work environment, developing a new product or planning a new project, buying new or used equipment or using new substances, and restructuring the business. Examples in the code include a café agreeing paid-time briefings and asking workers' views before replacing equipment and updating staff facilities, and a volunteer club holding pre-season information sessions and online forums.
