Section 1 must carry the product identifier exactly as it appears on the label, and where one generic SDS covers several minor variants every identifier must be listed. The chemical must be identified by product identifier or chemical identity, and the SDS should add company product codes or numbers, other unique identifiers such as the ADG Code proper shipping name or a name used in the SUSMP, and any other names or synonyms by which it is labelled or known. It should state the recommended or intended use with a short description of what the chemical does (for instance that it acts as a flame retardant), and any known restrictions on use, for example where the chemical is a prohibited carcinogen listed in Schedule 10 of the WHS Regulations, an illicit drug precursor or a chemical of security concern.
