Australia Model Code of Practice: Managing the Risks of Plant in the Workplace
Section 2: The risk management process – Australia Model Code of Practice: Managing the Risks of Plant in the Workplace

Australia Model Code of Practice: Managing the Risks of Plant in the Workplace 2.1c: 2.1 Use plant that is designed to lift or suspend the load, and lift within limits

When plant is used to lift or suspend persons or things, the person with management or control must ensure so far as reasonably practicable that the plant is specifically designed to lift or suspend the load. If that is not reasonably practicable the plant must not cause a greater risk than purpose-designed plant, and where it lifts persons its use must comply with r 220. The lifting or suspending must use lifting attachments suitable for the load and stay within the plant's safe working limits. So far as reasonably practicable no load is suspended or travels over a person unless the plant is designed for that, loads stay under control, and no load is lifted by more than one item of plant unless the method keeps each item within its design capacity.
