Supervision matters most where workers are unfamiliar with the site or work, and can also help manage remote or isolated work, poor support and harmful behaviours by increasing visibility. Supervisors (leading hands, foremen, or the most experienced worker on site) should be trained and authorised to ensure work follows policies, procedures and the SWMS.
