Everyone who carries out construction work (managers, engineers, foremen, supervisors, surveyors, labourers, tradespeople) must complete general construction induction training before starting. A PCBU must not direct or allow a worker to carry out construction work if the worker has not completed the training, or completed it more than two years ago and has not done construction work in the last two years, and must provide the training to that worker (rr 316, 317). The training must be delivered in Australia by a registered training organisation to the specified VET course, and should cover duty holders' roles, responsibilities and rights, consultation and reporting, risk management principles, common construction hazards and controls, and safety documentation such as WHS management plans and SWMS.
